A Satisfying Day at the Beach

Earlier this afternoon Hope and I visited the beach. Technically known as the Tacoma DeMolay Sandspit Nature Preserve, this 3.5 acre strip of beach juts out into the Carr Inlet of Puget Sound from the northwest side of Fox Island.

Apparently DeMolay is a men's fraternity associated with the Masonic order and dedicated to improving the lives of youth through civic awareness and leadership skills. This particular organization has owned the property since the late 1940s when they began holding youth camps at the sandspit.

In 2011 Peninsula Metropolitan Park District, fondly known in these parts as PenMet, acquired the property. After some renovations to the buildings and trails, it was opened to the public in December 2012.

The following is a photo essay of our afternoon here. I hope you enjoy it!

The view into Carr Inlet from the path.

A message to remind visitors, just in case it wasn't already apparent.

Somebody got some Satisfaction !

The waves of Satisfaction.

Saying good-bye, until next time.
