In a continuation from an earlier post, Javier Silicia has now brought his peace march to the United States today. After passing through Cuidad Juarez yesterday, Silicia crossed the border today. At the rally in El Paso, Texas, he said "The U.S. has a grave responsibility in all this, when its citizens remain silent, they are imposing war on us."
This is my attempt at NOT remaining silent.
According to Silicia, the U.S. Congress has approved $1.5 billion since 2008 to help Mexico fight the Drug War. That money could help a lot of college students, unemployed vets, or single mothers here in the U.S. Perhaps if we funded more programs at home, people would be less likely to turn to the drugs which fuel the drug trafficking in Mexico and points further south.
