Second Time's a Charm

Last night we went to view the volcano at Parque Nacional Volcan Masaya but it was so dramatic that we came back again today to see what it looked like in the daylight. We were not disappointed. 


We arrived in the late afternoon and the light was soft against the native grasses. 
Meanwhile Hope studied the volcano's crater in silhouette against a stark backdrop. Note the cross on the right which was originally planted there by the Spanish in the 16th century and has been maintained in the same spot ever since.
